I have recently purchased Sony Acid Pro, and would like to share with you all my first ‘mashup’. I would appreciate your constructive criticism, as I’d really like to master the art of creating really good mashups.

Hi NewBlokeOnTheBlock

Really like the idea of this mashup… I think you’ve cracked the most important thing to start a mashup, and that is to get the songs to match in key!! So if this is your first mix, then I congratulate you.
The only thing I would say, is listen to what you are mixing. I agree with bauza on the previous post, that the time of 3:20 does need fixing, but towards the beginning where you introduce Katy Perry… listen to it, and then ask yourself does it really sound right… is it matching the bars 1 2 3 4 to 1 2 3 4??
I think if you spent a bit more time on this, then you could have a cracking mashup here… something I might like to try and get my grubby mits around.
Oh… and more thing… if you are going to use samples like Ellie Goulding and Far East Movement, then don’t try to over complicate the mix!!
The Eminem part at the beginning works a treat… and I reckon this can still be improved if you put your mind to it… by using a beatmash!!

For example… when Eminem says "I can only tell you what it feels like"… try and play some effects on the word like!
Maybe something like this… "i can only tell you what it feels like, l..l..like (stutter the syllable "l" on this) and I reckon you could have a cracking intro to a mashup.

Maybe also leave off the "Yeah boy" sample, cos it’s over used and I think your mix would sound better without it!!

Thanks very much for your feedback (both of you), I’ll take note of all that’s been said and perhaps have a go at perfecting this mashup before moving on to the next effort

It’s funny, because a friend of mine also pointed out the 3:20 part, but I wasn’t able to find a way around it (yet), since in the actual song, Rihanna does come in right after Eminem finishes (actually slightly before he finishes the last word). Perhaps there’s a way around that and this is the kind of thing I’m hoping to learn in the future.

OK… a beatmash is difficult to describe, I feel it is all about your own personal creativity but it can be what you want it to be… the easiest way to show you is to link a Souncloud clip… using the Eminem acapella you used in your mix. It is a private clip, so only you and myself have access to it!

Have also subscribed to you on S/C- You have some very cool stuff on there! Especially like the Rihanna Vs Katy Perry track- One that I too started, but sounds nothing like your version lol

eminem needs moved one beat to the left at the beginning. (so where "I" is now, he needs to be saying "can’t").

Actually, a lot of the vocals are off beat.

Good concept & execution other than that though.
