lee spoonsParticipantY’know, this board really needs a key database 😉
Depends what BPM range you’re looking for really – but I had a look in my own personal database and found the following:
Amy Winehouse Back To Black 123.4 D
Blondie Call me 143 Dbut with a bit of pitch shifting you could probably use the following:
Amerie One Thing 100 D #
Amy Winehouse Addicted 108 D #
La Roux Bulletproof 123 D #
Rihanna Rude Boy 87 D#
Beyoncé Naughty Girl 101.7 C #
Lady Gaga Just Dance 119 C #
Amy Winehouse Tears Dry On Their Own 121.5 C #there’s bound to be loads more out there, these are just ones that me, ToToM and Sugamotor have added to this small database .

bigboyParticipantThanks mate.
so are you saying i could use rihanna -rudeboy in my d minor pentatonic scale mix – by pitching it down a semitone, is it in the minor pentatonic scale??How do you know the scale an acapella/track uses? is it from knowing a lot about musical theory? and just using ears to catch the notes/scale used?
or do i only need to worry about the key of the acapella rather than the scale used?

lee spoonsParticipantI don’t know much about music theory/scales but yes if you pitch that Rihanna track down a semitone it would be in D minor – I only listed the songs that I knew were minor. I just work out the key of stuff using my ears and this .
