Here's how Jojo, DJ Sting and myself rated the remixes.

Sounded similar to most good house music, but was definately cool what he did with the song.

Very clear, sounded great.. lots of effort went into it it seems.

    Mass appeal (20 points) - 15

      House crowd would like it

JOJO LIKES IT BONUS! (20 points) - 15

cuz he got me to listen and like house music

DJ MIKE AZ REMIX
    Creativity, Originality, Style (30 points) - 25

I like how he slowed it down.. definately was creative with it.. and sampled other stuff in the song which complimented the song.

    Production (20 points) - 15

Did a great job overall, see previous comment.

    Mass appeal (20 points) - 20

I would definiately vibe to this remix.

JOJO LIKES IT BONUS! (20 points) - 20

Extra 20 points cuz it's the one I like the best. :)

    Total - 80 / 90

DJ MIKE AZ REMIX

Super chill vibe.. loving the beat on this track.. and the chord progression is amazing. The vocals go so well over this beat.. and the breakdown in the middle is awesome.

    Creativity, Originality, Style (30 points) - 30

    Production (20 points) - 20

    Mass appeal (20 points) - 17

DJ STING LIKES IT BONUS! (5 points) - 5

    Total - 72 / 75

"Intricate", flawlessly executed, superb quality. The real makings of a genre-mashing single. Will be on my playlist for the next decade or so.

    Creativity, Originality, Style (30 points) - 30

    Production (20 points) - 20

I think most may have no idea how much skill and expertise it takes to make a final product sound like this. It doesn't "just happen". I can't even nit pick a single thing about it. UNBELIEVABLE!

    Mass appeal (20 points) - 15

GMONEY LIKES IT BONUS! (5 points) - 5

    Total - 70 / 75

DJ MIKE AZ REMIX

Yowza, that's hot! It gets my "mojo" working!

    Creativity, Originality, Style (30 points) - 30

You deserve full credit here, no doubt. The way you seamlessly integrated other vocals totally spoke to your own style and put a different tone on the whole track. Very DJ friendly!

    Production (20 points) - 10

I kind of feel like I owe you an explanation here. Sounded to me like the acoustic/synthesized guitar at the start was stretched and as a result I could hear a lot of splicing. Overall it was quite good, totally playable and listenable but just didn't quite have the "pro" quality touch of the De-Fine mix from what I could tell.

    Mass appeal (20 points) - 20

Purely based on genre, this will probably appeal to a wider audience.

GMONEY LIKES IT BONUS! (5 points) - 5

    Total - 65 / 75

MORE INFO ABOUT THE REMIXES:

De-Fine Music wrote:Like all the remix's I do I've made a house mix intendid for club play.

When I'm doing a remix I always try to take it as far from the original as possible whilst keeping it relivant to to the material provided.

It was made using cubase 5.

No samples were used apart from the drum loop (which I did some edits to) and the parts from the original track.
All the vocal edits and glitches you'll here were made from the original acapella using various vst plugings, a pair of scissors and a bit of glue.

The synths used were:

Trilogy

fxpansions - DCAM: synth squad> Strobe (Which I'm loving at the moment)

And FM8

Thanks for listening,

DJ Mike AZ wrote:Tools Used:
- Sony Acid Pro
- Adobe Audition
- Korg Triton Extreme

About:
I decided to create this track from the ground up so I could add musicality that would not distract or take away from the vocals. As such, I decided to write and perform the instrumentals myself (all on Korg). There are several layers of synth bass, synth, strings, piano, and a little guitar. The drum layers are from my collection. I threw in some scratches and vocal stabs to enhance a bit and, I also added some doubles over KBlitz and a slight harmony vocal over JoJo (in a few places). Overall, the goal was to create a sound that complimented the vocal melody and rhythm as much as possible. The result was a track that I think you could actually have sex to...granted if you do, you might want to loop it a few times cause it's only 3:29. It definately remains in the R&B/Hip-Hop genre. Anyway, this was my interpretation of the acapella as well as my first attempt at creating original content for a remix.

Track Info:
Length: 3:29, BPM: 106, Format: MP3, Size: 8MB, Bitrate: 320kbps

Nice :)
I enjoyed both but was more drawn to DJ Mikes version, as that is the genre I usually listen to.
The only thing that I didn't like about it was something that sounded like a fart at 0:26, 1:26 etc etc..
Besides that, the whole production was pretty good.

2 thumbs up guys :tune

Congratulations D_J_Mike_AZ, quality mix....:smt023

A BIG thanks to Gmoney, JoJo and DJ Sting for the effort made during the judging stage. I loved the audio of Gmoney and JoJo listening to the tracks, it really added a personal touch to the competition.

A MASSIVE thankyou to GMoney for the way the competition was run, everything was spot on and has set a new standerd for future competitions imo.

Thanks to acapella for the bonus acapellas, very nice and unexpected!

Theres nothing wrong with second place, I'm cool with that. As long as I dont get last place I'm fine........... err, hang on a minute :smt017

Only kidding, I couldn't be happier with the comments made. Its excellent when you get detailed feedback from people about your work, I'm always very critical when it comes to my own stuff so its always a boost when you get positive comments like that.

Also, I look forward to hopefully working with Gmoney and JoJo on future projects. This ones been a pleasure.

Cheers

Thanks everyone! I know what kind of talent lives in these boards so I figured it was a longshot to win when I entered. The quality of De-Fine's mix was off the charts so even when it was just the two of us, it didn't really feel like 50-50 ;-).

Anyway, it was a real pleasure working with an original track and I second the compliment on how the contest was executed and judged. I suppose I have to come up with something now to continue the effort. GMoney set the bar pretty high so I'll do my best.

Hopefully, I will get the chance to collaborate with all of you on a future project. In the meantime, I need to scour my contacts list for any friends I have that can sing :P
