JASONJAMEParticipantHi everone,
I need some advice. I have recenlty purchased logic 8 in the hope of making some tracks but I am finding it quite difficult to use.
I mainly wnat to sample stuff and have a mess around, can any one tell me if they think I should stick with Logic and stop being lazy and try to learn it or is there better stuff out there? I saw a guy with Fruity loops doing all kinds of stuff to samples and it looked good?Cheers

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantI love Logic, but unfortunately the audio side of things is not dealt with as well as
it should be.
If your new to the remixing game u really need to sit down with the manual. Also
have a search around Youtube for some tutorials.AdSense 336x280January 19, 2009 at 3:50 am #662821
lukin-88Participantyea i agree, logic is a powerfull piece of kit when you know how to use it… it dosnt take long to learn if you have a serious play around with it/read some stuff…

skateboard bParticipanti find that logic doesn’t really target the sampling crowd. it’s more for composing and stuff like that. the easiest way i think to get started sampling in logic is to get phatmatik pro or vst like that because the audio editing in logic is tedious and frustrating.

I came from Pro Tools so editing seems simple in comparison.. I recently got a set of tutorials from Mac Pro Video that are pretty thorough….only issue is the dude on the logic 101 series sounds like the teacher from beavis and butt head….

lol, this site has brought a few good laughters to me today, thanks frydae

I know exactly what you mean, i’ve listened! lol (I’m sure it’s the guy that runs the site, Martin Sitter, he’s actually a sound guy as he exchanged a tutorial I didn’t like for me).
To help Jason out:
Try a search on youtube for the logic ninja or David Earl, I don’t care (You will get this when you find link!)
Also as mentioned, macprovideo has some great tutorials and they always have special offers on so sign up for free to download the demo tutorials and you will most likely recieve coupon codes for discounted tutorials.
I would say stick with logic and build up your confidence with it. Logic is a fantastic program for creating your tracks and it’s very good for composing with. It has many features that all the other DAW’s out there has, each do the same thing but in different ways. It really is a case of getting stuck in and learning.
The EXS24 is a brilliant sampler and i’m pretty sure it will do what you want once you learn how to use it.
I’ve only recently started using logic myself and still a lot to learn but I’ve found it very easy to get into and learn something new everytime I use it.

acheadKeymasterSf ninja owns! Very very good info!

captain_kickerParticipantYea stick with it M8. Logic may not be as easy to use as FL or even Ableton for that matter, but learn it and it WILL pay off. — just my 2cents

justifyParticipantI would recommend using Ableton live for messing around… then use logic for your serious production
You can use both applications at the same time with Rewire…

R4mPaGeParticipantlogic is really powerfull but it takes time to learn search "sfl logic" on youtube he has alot of videos on logic

Player ZeroParticipantYeah from what I’ve heard Logic can be pretty tedious to get to grips with. Advanced programs are a double-edged sword, they’re awesome but you have to be prepared to learn.

repo136ParticipantI’ve been using Logic for a year, although just at college (I don’t own a Mac…yet!) so it’s a slow process.
Even so I find the ease of use really good and, dare I say it, logical.
Stick with it!AdSense 336x280July 26, 2010 at 4:41 pm #681384
hillbourneParticipantget yourself logic pro 8 and beyond the basic s by david dvorin. it comes with a dvd and each lesson runs you through everything you need to know. you will be up to speed in no time if you have the patience
