Hi ecsounds.

You can do this using "Audacity" which is a free program.

Download avaliable here:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You will get a much better quality of recording purchasing an external firewire soundcard but you can simply connect it to your PC soundcard.

For the internal PC soundcard you will require an adaptor cable, depending on what type of output connections your mixer has.

Usually these are RCA connections so you would need a:

2x RCA Phono Male to 1 x 3.5mm male jack cable, which are relatively cheap.

For an external soundcard you could use the following:

RCA Phono Male to XLR Female (2off)

or

RCA Phono Male to TS Male (2off)

Hope this helps.

I think you should try the demo version of the Acid 7 software and if it doesn't do exactly what you want then don't purchase this.

I use Cakewalk Club Tracks, although I'm not sure if that's still on the market

*sigh* how many times do we have to say there aint no specific program in which you can do that...
Removing instrumental from vocals is hard but once you've learned how to do it.. well its still hard(?)
I can't do it but i know it requires many procedures..
search for tutorials on youtube. i'm sure it's not so hard after all... i'm just not gonna bother meself learning it cause i know where to get the acapellas i need, when i need them.
