Yeah SP2 was ok by Windows standards, try OSX
It took a few days to get used to but I would never go back! |

All new OS have problems - even OSX... yeah, you heard correct... even OSX.
If your hardware has compatible drivers - downgrade to XP...
It's a no-brainer. |

I use Vista and Ubuntu Studio, and I think I'm in the rare minority who really likes Vista. I had a lot of problems with compatibility to begin with (I had to wait best ages for Protools to be supported, I had to chuck my webcam) but these are all sorted now anyway. I dont think anyone should be hesitating about migrating to Vista after service pack1 comes out (apparently this month).
You do need faster hardware, but things like the aero interface shifting graphical operations to the graphics card, automatic file backups and enhanced security features really do make up for that. That said, every time I boot up Ubuntu, I'm struck by how fast it is.
So far as the guy who said move to OSX, its all a matter of preference. I'm not gonna be buying a mac any time soon so I don't have the option (without a lot of tweaking). I do prefer the stability of protools on a mac though. |
