...To start a new bootleg / remix on the spur of the moment. Put your all into it without getting to worried about details--maybe spend about 2 - 3 hours on it. Just be FREE AS BIRD with it. Then right when you start feeling it and falling in love with it (which I guarantee you will), throw it away. Delete the bastard. I call this method "Separation Anxiety." Now, you guys probably think I'm nuts, but try it anyway. It's good for the soul!
I do it all the time. Man, I've made dope a$$ beats, written the illest lyrics, you name it. And just as everybody was giving me props, I either balled up the lyrics and threw them out the window or deleted the file right off my desktop. Cats would be like, "Yeah, that's awesom--what the hell are you doing." It gives me a rush. Plus, it make me feel like the GRANDMASTER of what I do. Try it and holler back
B4 trying this - where did you get this idea from - make it up? I had to do this unwillingly a couple of times when my machine has crashed and I've kinda gotten good at recreating lost work from scratch. will try to try....

O.K Grandmaster Flash........I used to do that when I was in my early twenties and have absolutely nothing to show for all the work that I did on those tracks.....I know the feeling that you're talking about ....but it get's replaced with frustration and resentment when you hit your thirties and have accomplished nothing in regards to your love of music.....
Yikes! That's kind of mean, don't you think? imagine going to a party where the DJ got the crowd on fire, rewinds the record and announces, "this is the only record with that track..." and then smashes it on the table. Aaagh! Luckily, nothing is ever really deleted off computers ...
didnt say it would be easy or seem smart - i think thats why he used the word CHALLENGE. i think the point is being able to deal with the frustration of losing something that you think is really important when actually - you'll probably make something better if you let it go. did i get close MEL? this thing reminds me of somthin outta Fight Club.....

aaj2006 I see that you are paying attention .....however the blends have nothing to do with tracks that I make ....they are two diffrent things ....and yes I still have over 12and a half hours of blends that I wouldn't erase....However I used to make tracks on my akai 950 and then just turn the thing off instead of saving .... I was young and silly.....Now that I have a 2000xl ....nothing is wasted because I have over 10 years of experience building tracks ....again ...to clarify.....this is totally seperate from the blenz.
stranger wrote:Mel, have you finished at least one project with your habbit of erasing everything??
Missing the point, Stranger! Never said that I erase EVERYTHING. Please read the opening comment again. I said start a new project, maybe spend a couple of hours on it, and once it begins to come together, delete it. GIVES YOU A RUSH, MAN, I'M TELLING YOU!

Not weird--WHIZ. I'm the WHIZ of this bootleg / mash-up / remix / spinz thing. Talk to someone professionally? Too late!! I looked in the mirror and talked to my durn self. Gasp! Maybe that's the problem!
LOL! But seriously, I've got to be like one of the all-time, grand champs of spinning. Was just in NY the other day and a world renown dj told me, "the world is yours, son! Put it in your pocket!" Maybe one day I'll upload a file or two
to let ya'll know exactly where I stand.
As for the topic...JUST TRY IT PEOPLE!!! Guarantee you won't regret it!
But....you sound like Kerry there citing unnamed sources that indorse you to be the next Eric b. for president....You don't wan't me to up some stuff......I might show you a Thing or two Youngin.......
