Hi, i have only just started downloading accapellas etc.. to make remixes, and i have a few instrumentals. I have found a few pairs which seem to go well together, however i have no idea how to change the speeds of the instrumental or accapella to make them fit together. Also i have read how some people 'timestretch' which I really don't have a clue what it is! I was wondering if somebody could give me some help about what to do once you have found an instrumental and an accapella that makes them sound more in time with each other, and what programmes need to be used in order to do it. Thanks

Have u some experience with audioprograms? Are you maybe a DJ? Sounds a bit like u just got the idea to make remixes? Maybe the easiest for u is to try out Acid or Live, that have more or less automatic , real-time timestretch options.

yeah, like said, ACID is the easiest program 2 use 2 do what you're talking about (exept you're talking about blends or mash-ups instead of remixing, which involves a little more re-working of the song's elements).

Put the tracks in2 ACID, go 2 track properties, and change the track type 2 Beatmapped. u can find a website that specializes N the BPM of tracks or just learn 2 match them up by ear. Basically - get the beginnings 2 match up (be careful, the first word doesnt always hit on the first beat of the measure - there's usually emphasis on the words that do) - then slow down or speed up either one 2 match the other. If u R time stretching a good bit, then its usually good 2 click [Preserve Pitch] N the track properties window. if U R doing a hip hop instrumental with a hip hop acapella, u shouldnt be stretching N-E more than 10 BMPs in either direction usually (there R exceptions like some of Outkast's tracks).

doin this might sound complicated but it becomes extremely easy once u get the hang of it. Hope that helped Smilie_PDT
