PS, I would use only vinyl, because there isn't any delay and it sounds better, but it's too damn heavy.
I'm so glad the days of carting around 4 crates of records and STILL not having everything you need are over!
my friday night residency i stick to vinyl on on my sat one they got fs so i use a mixture of the both - would like to go over to fs for good but its very hard to get 320 quality full length unmixed garage tracks. ukgmp3 has come about in the last few months and im a big fan of them.
Hopefully the will expand a bit more
CD's.I like to remix the song or re-edit so it's mixable. Also I can make medleys and mash ups, burn it then play it ANYWHERE.
I still use Vinyl, but am in the process of switching to CD. Not a fan of laptop.
MOVE YOUR BODY: this is the sound track, to my soul...

I have a weekly 2hr slot plus other club work. At my weekly slot I normally play vinyl to cd, but other clubs i normally am all cd due to there been no turntables in the clubs any moor.

I've gone from 12s, to CDs, to timecode. It's all about luggage. I hated carrying 3-4 bags of records all over the place. I still have a few thousand vinyls, but they stay at home. I don't by much anymore, and if I do, I convert it.

Because our sets consist of almost exclusively our/others producers dub-plates I rock serato now...In no way is this one of those "it aint djing if you dont rock techs/funk cd's" rants. In fact i KNOW that if your talking bout consistency or true perfect pitch (no drift) mixes cdj's are superior by far. My problem was and still is that ive played records for a decade the 1st time i touched cdj's i felt as though i never had mixed and i was re-learning something ive known how to do for almost half my life. my point is that if i started djing today i would undoubtedly go the cdj route but @ this point in my life being a touring dj to realearn the trade seems silly.
I saw a bit on tv not too long ago where they were saying that vinyl is almost outselling cds and that does not even take into account the smaller dj type record shops etc. Digital still wins out over all which is the way I have gone. there is just way too much music out there to try and keep up with purchasing hard copies. Of course I still do when its not available digitally or i need a pella thats only on vinyl etc. I have found that a lot of the time digital downloads actually come with more bonuses but it seems to vary pretty greatly from label to label release to release etc
I've now been dj-ing for about nine years. And I'm extremely happy for the last three years with my Mac with TracktorScratch/Traktor Dj Studio 3 on it.
It's also nice to connect the midi from the djm800 to the software, to trigger loops etc.
Serato Serato Serato Serato !!!!!!!
Just use the vinyl with the serato it's the same without the digging in the crates mess. Lets say you DJ at a club that has this wild ass way to get to the booth ...Do you really feel like lifting crates in this situation?
I use vinyl for playing live, and I will use ableton if im producing an original track or remixing something...
If I have the opportunity though, I will remix tracks with vinyl, but I gotta have 3 decks for that...
