fastlife architectsParticipantI’m just curious what methods some of ya’ll out there are using to do ya blends.
Since I didn’t have turntables I started using Roland’s MV-8000 because of its BPM sync to match up acapellas with instrumentals. Just wondering what some of ya’ll use.

junoParticipantFYI any real live blend takes smarts….and a whole lot of feel. Technology today supports DJ’s that don’t need to know how to do that. You process your beats in a DAW or look at them as their sounds flow by like a river to match them. So the easy answer is to do your blends before you DJ your gig & spend the rest of the time before thinking of how to incorporate them.

murkwatersParticipantThere are two ways to do this. The easiest way for me is to do it in Ableton Live – at least some of the older versions like 6/7 because of the way that warping was set up and just pick a good BPM and warp the two tracks to the right bpm and play them at the same time.

Tion LineParticipantVDJ and FL are two completely different things. With FL you can create a new, own song based on patterns, beats, basses, vocals etc… With VDJ you can play two (or even four i think) songs at the same time and either do some "blends" (i don’t know the exact english word) from one song to the other so it’s an endless (until you stop) MIX or as in hip hop live REMIX a song with backcueing etc…
I hope you understood me and don’t compare VDJ and FL anymore

jaredweissParticipantI use either Traktor or Ableton. If you’re using Traktor though, make sure that the beatgrid is properly set up. If it is, then the mix will be seamless. Ableton is great if you want to mix different parts of the song by just launching the clips quickly.
