I have a pella of 50Cent's Stunt 101. I have FL Studio 4. I have loads of kicks snares and other samples. I have cooledit 2000 for audio editing. Now I wanna remix. Which is the first thing for me to do to kick off with remixing.
Should I compose a beat first and lay bassline and synth. Or should I create a bassline and synth and then compose a beat which matches it. My questions might look funny to all the monsters of remix on this site coz Im new to this. Ive the doubt in front of you monsters and I know someone will give me a good advice. |

Whichever way works for you is probably best!
But It may be easier to start with the bass line if the vocal is pitched. |

I'm not sure what your acapella sounds like, but compose the bassline to complement the vocal styling: accents to match the emphasis, spacing to match the energy, and notes to match the pitch. The drums work with the bassline to fill in space and direct the changes, and if they are too busy they will overwhelm the track. The melody will flavor the beat and set the mood, and if it contrasts too much it will take strength away from the vocals.
These are just thoughts to consider, not guidelines. Every track has its own rules, and no one can tell you what your style is. Be sure to post a link here when you finish, so we can hear how you're doing! |
