Do it yourself acapellas or DIY refers to the procedure of manually separating a vocal-only portion of a music track from its instrumental counterpart; also known as vocal extraction. Lots of techniques, advice and help in here for creating that very special D.I.Y acapella. (NO REQUESTS)
Just goes to show a low post count does not make you a "noob". I'm on many forums and felt like sharing this with you as acapellas4u give us acapellas for free so i got to give something back!
Heres An accapella im working on. Its incomplete but shows off the software!
i've been using this for a short time, quite nice i must say..
also used goldwave for awhile a long time ago..
oh, speaking for freeware...check out audiomulch?
Willz. Thanks for sharing this info with us. Please can I ask if you are willing to write a quick step by step guide on how you create an acapella in this programme. I'm sure I won't be alone when I say that your help would be so greatly appreciated.
Take care
Thanks Willz. I'm just wondering if you should post it in the "Tutorials" forum. I'll speak to admin to make sure it's not removed in error.
Thank you for your time and support for a4u.
Take care

Hey this sounds fantastic - gr8 stuff Willz.
May I suggest that as members arent able to create NEW posts within the Tutorials section that you create the text and links to any pictures in the forum ready format and email or PM me the detail so I can take a look at it once you're ready ok?
Cheers, thanks once again.
p.s would really like to hear a selection of acapella extractions that you've done with Audacity.
I've played around with audacity for a while now, I've even tried to do this with it, but perhaps I was a bit overzealous at the time.
I was digging the changes in the sound, gave it a unique factor.
Please forgive me if I don't use technical terms, I just know what I like and what sounds I'm looking for at any time and just dive in from there.
Yep! i will do a tutorial for you guys with pics and sound clips. And i will post it to you (Founder of site) but you may need to hang on with me for a few days as im doing a-level exams this week. (im still in college, im only 17 ) So hope to post it up soon!
Cheers,

(the streets - stay positive)
Stop dreaming
People who say that are blaspheming
They're doing nine to five and moaning
And they don't want you succeeding when theyve blown it
And your idols - who are they?
They too dreamt about their day

Tom please don't rush this tutorial. Your exams are far more important. And that's an order!!!!
Haven't downloaded the program, however I listened to the sample of Lionel Richie "hello"... it was really good. But the phasing method in the previous post really works the BEST if you can find the exactly intrumental to go with the song you're trying to make acapella (that is, every frequency in the instrumental must match the instrumentals in the background of the original song. If not, then phasing won't work). It sux, but that's the best way i've found. Any feed back on phasing?
