Hey just listened to the whole album. Not too bad.... there are some interesting tracks.

My top 2:
1: Get Down Only
2: The Island That Loves.

These are very club worthy.

Mr. C.

yep these two as well as the Primal Scream one are really made for the club.
as I made it as a NIN fan, I wanted first to mash each track with a good song and made it more for the regular NIN fans' listening pleasure than for clubbers'.

thanks for your feedback anyway.

well, I used Acid mostly, Audition sometimes, and extracting the acapellas the way I described into my tutorial.

Reznor rules and you did him some justic here. Haha never thought I'd hear him on a 70's funk like track on that Get Down track. Funny and quality.

OK totom, here is my mini-review of your album. Smilie_PDT

Technical Information

I downloaded the 100 Mb Zip file to get these tracks. On my pitiful dialup connection, this took two days. It was worth it, though. Smilie_PDT

Track by Track:

"All the Love in the Revelator"

A nice mix here. Droning, but with a nice beat as well. Sort of dancy, and a good chorus as well.

"You Know These Boots Are Getting Smaller"

Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it with my own ears. Smilie_PDT Unusual, funny and skillfully produced. One qualm: the modulation on "don't you f(lak)ing know what you are" seems unnecessary and somewhat disruptive.

"Radio Live Collector"

Nothing spectacular here. Not bad, but just not very interesting. (Which isn't too surprising since The Collector was one of the less interesting tracks off of With Teeth anyway. Smilie_PDT)

"The Hand That's No Fun"

Now you're talking! This one rocks, with the impressive synth riff from Reznor complementing the stooges' vocals well. No fun? To the contrary. Smilie_PDT I was playing my custom-built air guitar during this one.

The track also has the distinction of being one of the few where Trent's singing isn't heavily emphasized. ;)

"Love is Not Precious"

Another dancy mix. Very foot-tapping worthy. And a very nice chorus as well, though it's a bit odd that the verses are much more lush than the comparatively sparse choruses. The bridge is skillfully done as well. Much more musically light than the original. I like this one a lot. Smilie_PDT

"Every Light Pours Out Exactly the Same"

Not very interesting until the chorus. The verses are just kind of boring. A bit disappointing for one of my favorite tracks on the album, but the choruses are solid.

"Da Ya Think my Teeth Are Sexy"

Fuzzy. Smilie_PDT In a funky, bassy kind of way. Mmmmmmmm, funk. Gets your feet tapping, but musically it can be a bit displeasing (Reznor's vocals are often dischordant against the music, or at least seem that way).

"Get Down Only"

Again, very funky. And again, I like it. Smilie_PDT It sounds very authentic, with the Reznor vocal drifting around and sounding somewhat high/stoned. Smilie_PDT

"Another Spot in the Sun, Part 2"

This doesn't seem... it... well, it just isn't LOUD enough! Smilie_PDT It just feels a bit weedy; those guitars and the bass need a volume boost so they aren't so buried under the vocal (mainly the "Hey Teacher" shouts). Otherwise, excellent work.

"We're in this Blurred Line Closer Now"

Shocked WOW.

My favorite off of With Boots. While retaining a very nice beat, this six minute track is still utterly rocking. With all the distortion, riffs and beats colliding, this song is immensely powerful and noisy (I mean that in the best way possible). The guitars here absolutely blow my speakers to shreds, and I like that. Smilie_PDT The outro is a wee bit huge, but it's well worth it. Smilie_PDT

Industrial strength? Smilie_PDT

"Beside you Heroes"

This time, it's the vocal that's buried under the strange sounds of David Bowie. I can barely hear Reznor at all. Otherwise this one is pretty OK.

"Right Where Clint Belongs"

Interesting. Strangely moving. This is much lighter than most of the stuff on With Boots. Pretty. I like it... until the rap starts. I don't like the rap.

"John the T.V. Eye (That Feeds)"

Chaos! As with all the Depeche Mode mixes here, this one had serious foot-tapping potential. And, as with "Blurred Line Closer..." all the riffs, vocals and beats collide to make a very 'big' sound.

"Beside you in Swastika Eyes"

Very dancable. Smilie_PDT Good riffs, good vocals, good beat. Quality track.

"The Island That Loves"

That is one fat bass. Smilie_PDT Very techno, and very nice. Smilie_PDT The synth riff from The Hand That Feeds is always nice to hear.

"Only Fame"

An interesting concept, but it doesn't quite cohere.

"Fight Club is Not Enough"

Seems like a short little experimental track to me. It's OK, but just doesn't do much.

Overall, quite a nice little treat.

4/5
