I use LiVE a helluva lot !! - I love it to bits - but then I love samples & all things sampling, always have done, always will.
I'm mainly using it for a "Remix Palette" of sounds at this particular moment in time. Yes the actual arrange window I find similar to ACiD which suits me fine and I do like to SEE the waveform in an arrange window aswell. This is where LiVE outshines Reason for me... sorry Reason I've loved you for so long but LiVE's just making all my tracks that much "pokier" and "fresher". Seeing a waveform rather than a block is so much prettier to me.. anyways b4 I get side-tracked....
I'm using it for straight up 4/4 House music and all flavours there-of.
Hope this helps you choose

ableton.com has a free demo (Mac and PC) of Live. Don't let the interface fool you. It may look simple and uncomplicated (which it is), but is is a powerful, high-quality tool.
I like to think of Live and Reason as a complete DAW...
BTW: Is there another App/piece of Hardware/music-making doohickey that is also called Live? Because last time I checked, Ableton had the ONLY program - bar none - that had that name. If there was another "Live", I apologise for the inaccuracy in my post. I will elaborate next time. |

Yeah, Brink. We know.
Brink. What kind of name is THAT? Run out of ideas?
Does it mean that your diaper is on the BRINK of exploding?
or that the BRINK of destuction is nigh?
or that is a tough way of saying BRINK it on, Sukkaz!?

| I use Live as well. I love it, but I'm still getting used to it. I have to divide my time between learning some of my hardware and Fruity Loops, but I like Live a WHOLE lot. Be sure to try before you buy. That's what I did at Guitar Center. I don't know if there is a Guitar Center in Englad though. I live in the states. It's still a great program...... |

i also use live. i use it pretty much for everything, except midi, which i record audio of in live and then sequence.
i actually am in a bit of a minority, i think, in that i use live for sequencing a LOT, and really like it for that. i've only recently gotten more into using it for performance.
i make noisy-experimental/breakcore, mostly. been branching out of late... |

News of LiVE Version 4 arrived on the forum today, lots of talk of midi - better check it out.

Can't answer for other members here on that but, I use it for sequencing too. To be honest I absolutely LOVE LiVE for the sequencing ability that it has. It's sooooo nice to be able to feel/see the sounds you're working with. I love Reason for what it is but little Vertical Bars and blocks don't really get me wet! LiVE in much the similat vein as The ACiD's and Cubases/ Protools etc involves seeing the sounds as waveforms, which is just generally loads more intuitive and certainly a lot more interesting on the eye when producing.
It reminds me of how I first started getting involved with sounds/samples and dance music - Sampling using TechnoSound on my Amiga500 I guess.
Hopefully I'll make it to the shortlist to be a BETA tester for V4. who knows.
