you gotta sit there, and chop it (the pella) up a bit and shift them around. also if the bpm between the two varies loads, it won't work unless you speed up/slow down the pella.....i'd be careful tho..you don't want a chipmunk effect on the vocals. it aint pretty |

| chopping up the pella makes it more managable definetly...but usually to sort out the bpm issue i run it through sony/sound foundry acid pro's beatmapper....with a few adjustments here n there u get the pella to the desired tempo. |

| BPM is the key, unlock it and all your troubles are over. You can use the above mentioned bitmapper, you can chop and do it visualy (and by ear) or throw it through an MV8000 which alows you to slow down or speed up your samples without losing anything or gaining "chipmunks" Good luck and hammer away, thats the easy part |

You can put your own beats & the original vocal track in acid for ex., make adjustements... when they are synchronise, remplace the vocal track by accapella |

I have yet to get pro tools, but acid is a good sequencer for mixing beats and acapellas. but like everyone else said, you have to find the bpm of both the instrumental (weather you're using a some1 elses or your own custom one) and the acapella. cutting a and chopping the acapella just leaves random "blanks" in the song that sound generic. If it's an old school acapella of a song that didn't have a digital beat mapper, then you might wanna use cool edit or adobe audition to clean it up...

Abelton i find to b the best trick for the job!
it comes bundled wiv tutorials on how 2 beat match anything using a minor piece of the software known as 'WARPING' u can pitch anything together and it will preserve the vocal of any genre!
u will find loads of tutorials on the abelton site and there is a whole topic here in the genaral chat section about abelton and its hints and tips
cheers
slipster
p.s. i know its expensive but worth every penny if u ask me! i have made some wicked mashups!! |
