Itz az simple az changin the file extension!

No need for all theze converter programz!

Example...

MyDVD.avi - remove .avi & type in .mpeg so you end up with MyDVD.mpeg & itz now an Mpeg fyle!

Peace

hmmm....i coulda swore it said DVD to any video format...not one video format to another...

Example...

Actual "The Wiggles" Retail DVD inserted into dvd-drive-->convert it to a file you can play on your computer like TheWiggles.avi or TheWiggles.wmv-->no need for the actual dvd to watch the movie.

The tools that I've used in the past for DVD conversion are FairUse Wizard and SimpleDivX

Sorry but that is ABSOLUTLY incorrect. It will still remain encoded with the format.

Your mediaplayer will play the file fine, because it has the codecs installed, but if you really want or need to change the file you have to reencode it.

You can prove this easily, get a freeware tool called, GSpot. This tool analyzes the video files and tells you what codec is used. If you just rename the file, GSpot shows you that it will still remain encoded with the old extension. Therefore only a player that acutally play those codec can handle it.

i.e. if the device you want to play the movie is only capable of playing DIVX avis, it wont work if you just rename the extension, because as I said, renaming won't change the codec.

Use VirtualDUB, freeware and can encode nearly every video, if you got the codecs installed.

have to add: If you want to copy the complete DVD with all features, menus + specials, get a freeware tool called RATDVD, programmed by some students. Output of the file will be one single .ratdvd file, which contains every data of DVD. Encrypted Dvds wont work though. After installing RATDVD your mediaplayer can load those files, and play them as the where actual DVDs.

Hey, you should try this free program. It contains dozens of video and audio formats, AVI, DIVX, WMV, SWF, MP4. MKV and so on. I used it to convert SWF to MP4 two days ago. It perfectly achieved my target. Hope you get your works done with its help. Besides, it also helped me to download Christmas songs and Christian music.
Santa comes in the festive mood full of Christmas music, he brought lots of presents and happiness to us.
