If you have an Intel CPU, a good cpu fan, decent amount of RAM capacity and a motherboard compatible for overclocking, you can easily and safely change the clock frequence up by about 300Mhz which is often the recommended total overclock. Check google for overclocking guides on how to do this!
I overclocked my stationary PC’s single core Intel Pentium 4 CPU from 2.8ghz to ~3.4ghz (quite "extreme" OC if you ask me)
Running and stable! …well a few bluescreens now and then as it boots as the CPU fan isn’t quite good….
If you have an AMD CPU, don’t even think about overclocking it. If your AMD CPU gets overheated once, it breaks.
