The tracks have to be lined up perfectly, meaning you will need to visually check the wave forms of both tracks to make sure they match exactly. Select your inst track, go to effects, choose invert, which will invert your wave form. Play back to see what you’ve got. If you’ve still got full inst or just inst background noise, your tracks might not be aligned perfectly. Adjust them. Zoom way the fuck in to be sure you’re matching absolutely perfectly. Playback. Repeat process. If you do this for a long time, and do not get a clean result, your tracks are likely not identical. Some filth will remain, though often more in some parts of the track than others.
