| Ok i'm using a PowerBook G4 1.5GHz w/1.25GB RAM, i'm thinking of upgrading, just for the sake of doing so, to a MacBook Pro 15.4 2.33GHz w/2GB RAM. Anyone have any problems with theirs? Is this a good move? My PowerBook has been flawless but I can get a MacBook Pro cheap and it's faster & FireWire 800 (as does my LaCie external HD). Any suggestions? |

So you are using a MacBook, is it OK? Is it the Pro or the regular, I heard one of the USB ports has weak power so you should use a certain one, which one? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ive run serato on a G3/800 with 256 lappy,..
although there was a slight lag at the visual end the audio played fine with no latency issues from the vinyls
I wouldnt recommend going below this spec though |

| Ive been using Serato on a first gen macbook with 1gig ram for about 6months now and havent had a single hiccup.....I use the combo for live gigs every other week on average.....Im pretty impressed with the macook...I think if you max out the ram or even get at least a gig....youre not gonna see a big difference in performance against the macbook pro..On the other hand , Ive seen Serato crash a powerbook a few times....you will have to get the firmaware update from seratos website which is easy enough |

| I have used Serato for 1 year last week now and have only had it crash on me once. I am not using Apple certified RAM which still hasn't caused a problem. As far as the USB power is concerned, I suggest getting the power adapter for the SSL box anyways, saves a lot of trouble (other than having another power cord) |

| i've got one of the early macbooks (week 20 build) and for many of the first gen macbooks there is a problem with the back USB port with Serato. it's not a big deal just don't use it. i'm sure these issues have since been sorted out, and i've had now problems otherwise (make sure you build overviews often). cheers! |

have ran it both on my 12" G4 1.33Ghz and on my new Core 2 Duo Macbook.
Ran fine on the G4 but I could tell it was working hard. My Macbook could run it with its hands tied behind its back. |

| I have a macbook pro and for some reason serato acts sketchy if you use the usb port on the right side. It works completely fine if I use the usb port on the left side next to the power cable. |

wow!!! lol.
it seems everyone uses Mac with their Serato. i have a Dell E1505. lol. but customized it online and beefed it up a lil. had it freeze on my recently but that's probably because i've NEVER defrag'd my laptop since i got it!!! lol. anyways, are Macs really that much more "stable" with Serato and a PC??? i'd love to get a powerbook one day. but i not rich like all you guys. |

Serato on a 15" Mac Book Pro, duel core 2.4. 2GB Ram with not a problem.
The USB thing mentioned is a problem created by a shared USB bus between the track pad and the right hand side USB port.
Generally, according to the Serato Forums, it is advised to plug the Serato box into the left hand side USB port.
I use the right side USB for a mouse (selecting the option to deactivate the track pad) which makes using the hot cues, other keyboard functions easier as I tend to rest my wrist on the track pad area of the MBP. |
