So I just bought an M-Audio Trigger Finger, after being influenced by using my house-mate's MPC 1000 several times this past year, and just starting to mess with midi and Ableton. I can't seem to figure out straight up beat creation with it in Ableton though (for those that don't know, its like many other standard drum pad midi-controllers). Does anyone know how I can simply load in samples and play them? And software suggestions?
Start with Fl (fruity loops) or Reason they have great support, then work your way up. Or go with pro tools or cubase. I had PadKontrol and I used in reason. There you just gotta load sample in Dr.rex or nn-xt and your ready to go. Havent tested it with ableton since its a bit confusing lol but still buy some nice VSTs or download free ones and ur ready to go.
i tried one of these with fl and it didn't work with the fpc same as the akai mpd16s do, i also couldn't get it running with the beatslicer which is my fav tool so i took it back and got a new midi keyboard with switchable octaves thus being able to play every note of even the longest samples when sliced to death in the beatslicer.
You have to program midi channels correctly cause those out of the box are kinda poor. Be sure to also get some presets from the web and drivers, those from the box are also poor but thats common specialy from M-Audio.
