okay, this is a realllllly long shot... but Kanye and Estell's creation - american boy - sounds familiar. I'm not talking about were it's sampled from exactly, but it sounds similar to an older song, and im positive a british artist sang it. if anyone has ANY idea what it might be, please tell me! its driving me insane because its at the back of my mind and wont come out! ahh!

i know exactly what you mean - the whole tune sounds faintly familar. this was bugging me so much i had to google all the writers seperately but no dice. it's written by kanyeeze & estelle, with keith harris and josh lewis (who play on most of will.i.am's stuff) and caleb speir (who did some lyrics i guess) and will.i.am (who probably made the tea). no samples, no credits for 'appropriation', no clues whatsoever.
the guitar stabs sound a bit like robot rock though, so that's a start. |
