Cheers for the feedback guys. I been crazy busy with summer school lately (and it is wicked hot down here) so I haven’t had a chance to work much more on this.
Regards to suggestions:
Timing – I agree, needs to be fixed. This is one of my main priorities when I go back over it. The tempo changes a little throughout the song so I’ve been having a bit of trouble but I’ll get there easy enough once I get some time.
Em in the hook – I had a lot of trouble trying to get this to sound like it does in my head. Again, it’s 90% a timing issue (placement and stretching) and I think 10% some pitch work. I also contemplated dropping it altogether but I really like how it links the verses with the chorus. One of my main motivations for putting the two together was the way the themes of the songs (paradoxically) worked together.
Yazz’ drums suggestion – Maybe. I’m still thinking about what I want to do with it. This track will be revised when I get time. So yeah. Maybe.
Seanza – For the record, I too thought Superman was a pretty average song. It was kind of depressing and just straight up sounds like something that would make me nauseous after two or three plays. I thought by using a more powerful beat and dropping the ridiculous Eminem-female voice (or ‘Feminem’ as I like to call it) I could actually try and pull out some real emotion rather than just trashy pop-rap. Hopefully that’s what you were getting at.
Anyway, that was more feedback than I give most other people. A little self-indulgent maybe. Ah well. I’ll let ya’ll know when I fix some things and we can go through this all over again.
Cheers guys
