In terms of video and audio, i recommend Mac as well, Final Cut Pro (video) Pro Tools (Audio) Logic Pro 7 (Smilie_PDT coming soon.... just run off a decent external hardrive. rendering in a PC is time consuming, and nothing worse than losing info half way through a 6hr render.
stabilty, virus free.

It takes a while to get use to the setup of a Mac if you've been a PC person, obviously, but once you do you probably won't go back. Mac's are just far more stable.

I feel that macs are more user friendly and intuitive. I a novice can use garageband (though not the best by anymeans) and get a sound from that. I have been using PC's and they just take up my time with all the tweaking that I have to do.

I think macs are a league ahead of windows pcs. However I do wish there was a port of acid pro to the mac, its the audio program I feel most comfortable with.
In fact that is the ONLY reason why I run parrallels and XP on my macbook.

Mac's are just PC's with a different O/S. They don't even use top of the line parts.
Seriously check the component lists.

After years of saying how crap PC processors are Apple switched. Oh the irony Smilie_PDT

I don't know how all you people have such unstable PC's either. Cubase and a huge amount of plugins doesn't even touch the sides of my rig and it didn't cost a lot either.

I might try setting up OSX on my pc. Then i can sell it for £1000 more than it cost to make Smilie_PDT

Macs for reliability & stability (and no viruses), also pound for pound are cheaper and faster...also you can run Windows in Parallels anyway, and it's quick, so say no to a PC mate, unless you go Linux which I recommend...

O.K. I have been using Mac's for a long time let's say since OS 8.5... we have come a long way since then... But you have to ask yourself when have you ever seen windows give back ram on it's own after an Application has been closed.. Also take a look at how much ram you need to run XP compared to Mac's OS. Just to give you an idea i have a Quad G5 running 4.5 Gigs of Ram and i can pull up plenty of Waves plugins which are known to be ram hogs... So do yourself a favor and get a mac in the long run it will pay itself off. in less headaches

I just switched to Mac about 2 months ago after using PC my entire life, and I did so with the intention of also running Vista via boot camp. Honestly though, having used OS X for a couple of months I'm not even going to bother with Vista. I've seen it running on friends computers and it is so SLOW compared to OS X. When i go back to my old PC running XP, I just get frustrated with how much waiting there is for things to load.

Also Logic Studio is Mac only, and it is brilliant! I actually don't mind that i can no longer use all my old VST plugins, because the AU plugins included in Logic are just as good if not better.

ive used a mac for years now, i think the only real advantage is you dont have to worry about viruses, also maybe macs are slightly more reliable in my experience although i have had a few crashes on mac too. the os is personal preference, i prefered windows until OSX, but i think macos is far superior now.

You can't compare Winblows to Mac OS, it's like comparing dirt to gold. There is just no point in doing that. If you have a pc, and you hate it.. run Winblows, the utter most crap OS ever created. Mac OS is actually based on FreeBSD, which started out on the PC (still going strong btw).. Oh, and mac's in general are just so much more thought through and perfected, you pay a price for it though, but it's worth it imo. There's probably a reason why the best people from Microsoft has imigrated to Apple Smilie_PDT. This is all from a windows user btw, if you use your computer for "fun" ie. gaming and stuff, you have to go winblows, unfortunately that is the fact. What a terrible world to live in Sad. And don't even get me started on XP vs. Vista Smilie_PDT

mac's are more fun to look at than pc's.

and it sounds childish but when your starring at the same arrange window for hours on end you want something that you like to look at.

I've been using mac's in the studio since 1995 and I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that the new mac pro's with OSX are the most stable and easily the fastest / most powerful computers you can buy for music production.

PC's are awful. Every one I have had has needed constant looking after, bug fixes, system conflicts, hardware failure and don't even get me started on Vista, quite possibly the worst operating system ever released.

Mac's might look more expensive but they will save you money in the long run as they last forever! As an example, since 1995 i've had 3 desktop Pc's & 4 laptop's. Every single one has ended up in the bin. In the same time period I've had 3 macs and all of them still work! The only reason I have 3 is due to processor upgrades demanded by new software or I'd still be on my PowerMac 7100/80!

;)
