Just thought a would let you all know that there's some sort of virus goin' around when 1 of your friends on MSN will send you a link and tell you to check out a link.
That link is

so DO NOT CLICK IT
Am not 100% certain if it's just with MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger but best to be safe rather than sorry!
Once you click on this link, you will be asked to download a file called pic2038.pif so DON'T save it!
If you save it, everytime you log onto MSN/WM, be it online, busy, away, appear offline etc, it will be sent out to everyone on your buddy list!
This was also posted in the PC section but am not sure if you Mac users would ever wander into that part of the forum so posted it in here too.

there have been loads of these...i remember them when i used to only be on PC. i haven't encoutered them on a mac yet ...although running a virus on a mac is pretty hard (unless you're logged in as admin, and you don't require a password for applications to access system files/apps. that's just stupid tho  ) |

| A have to say Juggernaut, it seems alot of the viruses are written more for PC than Mac which gives Mac an advantage, but ofcourse, like most things these days, it's easily re-coded and written to run on Macs etc. |

aye, with mac stupitly deciding to go onto intel (thus requiring universal binary) it's only a matter of time till they start cropping up on macs.

totally agree, our studio just got two G4 powermacs, one for internet/office and one is even strong enough for recording and small set-ups..
i'll keep my ppcs as long as i'll get decent updates though the macpro looks quite tasty..
we're runnin ppc macs for five years and never got any virus alert tough some of them were online for nearly half of the time..
intel is of course a risk.. the encoding of viruses will be a lot easier and time well tell if bootcamp and especially parallel are safe.. |
